Revamp Your Home with a One-Room Remodel

Posted on 29. Jan, 2014 by in Home Improvement

Many homeowners long to reinvent their homes, but because they cannot afford to remodel the entire house, they assume that they should not even try.  Thankfully, it is not necessary to redesign every room to refresh the look or atmosphere of your home.  It is possible to just re-model one room and still change your home significantly, if you approach the remodel strategically.

First, it is important to consider what room would be most impactful to re-model.  Many people like to re-model their kitchens or living rooms because these are the rooms that guests most often see and occupy.  Whether you want your home to feel more modern, welcoming, or distinguished, changing one of these rooms can help set the tone for the entire house.  Other homeowners prefer to focus on a less central part of the home, such as a downstairs entertainment room.  Homeowners who host numerous watch parties or other gatherings will find that building a new theater room, bar, or entertainment center can make the home seem newer or more luxurious.

Of course, homeowners must be strategic to make a one-room remodel count.  It is important to understand exactly what you want to achieve, and although overspending to re-model one room is not wise, you do not want to spend too little if that room is going to be a focal point.  You should also keep in mind that, though you are remodeling just one room, you do not have to leave every other room untouched.  You can use your new room as a springboard for smaller changes in other rooms.  By incorporating new furniture or art that reflects the style of the redesigned room, you can help spread the look and feel of that room throughout the house.

You truly do not have to make extensive and expensive changes to your entire home to revitalize it;if you pick the room and design carefully, you can re-model one room and see similar effects.  Just make sure that you have a good idea of what you want to achieve and that you only hire the best contractor to handle your one-room re-model.
